An Answered Blog Prayer
Yesterday Ainsley happily told me that she HAD the castle dream. She went into lots of detail, even down to the "necklace wif diamonds and crown hat wif a wide ribbon" she was wearing in the dream. I just want to say, "Thanks, God" for hearing the little blog prayer of this mommy and giving Ainsley her castle dream!

A Patriotic Funny

Ok, 2 things you need to know first:
1) We have a bank here called Comerica Bank.
2) East Lansing is home to Michigan State University.
So Ainsley hears Jack and I talk about "Comerica" and "Michigan State" sometimes.
So this morning on our way to preschool, Ainsley saw an American flag waving in the breeze. She pipes up from the backseat, "Look! It's a Comerican flag of the United Michigan States!"

Reminding Jesus
Tonight I was putting 3.5-year-old Ainsley to bed. We read "Good Night Gorilla" which is one of her (and my) favorites. Then she hopped into bed and we started to pray.
A few weeks ago we were talking about how maybe if we're having a bad dream, we could say to ourself, "Self, I want another dream" and thus change our dream. (I've never been able to do this but I've talked to people who can and wanted to give Ainsley the chance to try.)
So she came up with an elaborate dream of being a princess in a castle and singing through an open window at the top tower, and having all the little forest animals come out from their homes to listen to her beautiful voice. (This seems like a cross between Snow White and Cinderella, though she's never seen Snow White, so who knows?)
Anyway tonight as we were praying, she put in yet another request to Jesus for the "Castle Dream," to which it is now referred. When we said Amen, Ainsley said, "Maybe we can put it in the newspaper or something to remind him (Jesus.)... Like in a box." What a doll! Obviously it's important to her. (Also she may have her daddy's gift for print advertising!)
So while this blog is nothing close to the newspaper for exposure, this is my little 9:05 PM, sleepy way of "reminding" Jesus about the "Castle Dream." OK, what do you say, Lord? :)

Happy New Year!
Okay, so a blog is one of my new things in 2008! We'll see how it goes. And once again at resolution time, I am attempting to lose some weight this year and work out more. To that end, I've joined 3 classes at the Y: 1) Awesome Abs 2) Kickboxing and 3) Yoga (not sure this last one counts as "exercise")
The day after Christmas, Ainsley blurted out from the back seat of the car, "it's SO BORING to wait for Easter!" I guess she doesn't miss a Christian holiday! We'll have to work on the patient anticipation thing. Well, Ainsley, happily for you Easter comes quite early this year. So let's enjoy our first few days of 2008 and pray that I still have the inkling to eat right and exercise consistently by Easter...
